Worlds Between · Fantasy By Numbers
Effective date: July 3, 2026 · Last updated: July 3, 2026

1. Introduction

Fantasy By Numbers ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Worlds Between mobile application ("the App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

This policy applies to users in Canada. When the App is made available internationally, this policy will be updated to reflect applicable requirements in those regions.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information when you use the App:

Account information

Game and profile data

Location data

Session and device data

Camera and NFC

Analytics and diagnostic data

Bug reports

Locally stored data

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

4. Location Tracking and Your Choices

Location access is used to place you on the in-game map and to detect nearby content. You can control location sharing within the App at any time:

You can also revoke location permission through your device settings. Some location-based features will not work without permission, but you may still use other parts of the App such as QR-triggered interactions.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as needed to operate the App:

6. User-Generated Content

The App may allow you to choose a username and display name that are visible to other players. We do not actively moderate all user-generated content.

We plan to offer user-generated layers, where creators can build their own stories, characters, and game content, including uploading custom images. This content is stored on our systems as part of operating those features. User-generated layers are not broadly available to all players by default — access requires an explicit opt-in, such as joining a specific event layer or accepting an invitation from the creator.

If you create or join a user-generated layer, you may encounter content produced by other users. We do not review all creator content before it is made available within an opted-in layer. If you encounter content that violates our terms or is otherwise inappropriate, please contact us at nerds@fbns.ca.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account and game data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (see Section 8), your personal information is removed from our live database immediately.

Backups

Encrypted database backups may retain deleted data for a limited period before they roll off automatically. When our database is on a paid plan with point-in-time recovery, this backup window is up to 7 days. On the free database tier, automated point-in-time backups are not available; we may maintain separate local backups on the same schedule when used for disaster recovery.

Analytics (PostHog)

When you delete your account, we delete your PostHog person profile linked to your account identifier. Raw analytics events may persist in PostHog for up to 30 days under PostHog’s retention settings before they expire. Aggregated or anonymized analytics that no longer identify you may be retained longer.

Server logs

Diagnostic logs sent from the App to our multiplayer server are retained for approximately 30 days, then deleted automatically.

Bug reports

If you submitted bug reports before deleting your account, we may retain those reports in anonymized form so we can investigate and fix issues. When your account is deleted, we remove your account identifier, session identifier, and optional location coordinates from the report. We keep the description, screenshot, and technical context (such as app version and platform). Screenshots may still show in-game content visible at the time of the report.

Sessions

Active session data is removed when you delete your account or sign out. Session records are not retained beyond what is needed for security and the periods above.

8. Your Rights and Account Deletion

Depending on applicable law (including Canadian privacy law), you may have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information.

Delete your account in the App

You can permanently delete your account without contacting us:

  1. Open Settings from the main menu
  2. In the Account section, tap Delete Account
  3. Review what will be removed, type DELETE to confirm, and tap Delete My Account

Deletion takes effect immediately in our live systems. You will be signed out and returned to the login screen. Your email, password, username, profile, character progression, inventory, quest progress, party membership, and stored location data are removed from our live database. Your username becomes available for use by a new account.

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone from within the App. Data may still exist in encrypted backups for up to 7 days (see Section 7).

What we keep in anonymized form

Bug reports you submitted may be kept without your account identifier so we can continue fixing reported issues (see Section 7).

Contact us

You can also email nerds@fbns.ca to exercise privacy rights or if you cannot access the in-app deletion flow. We will process verified requests within a reasonable timeframe.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls on our cloud infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
